Nepeta cataria
Family: Lamiaceae
Herbaceous perennial. Native to Europe. Downy, green foliage
with dense, white-green flowering racemes. Sedative and calming tea;
aromatic, favorite of cats and children. Cultivation:
Easy. Direct seed in early spring or start in greenhouse. Press seeds
firmly into surface of soil. Thin or transplant 2 feet apart.
Flowers to 4 feet. Do not overwater, or the crowns will rot after
the first growing season. (If you ever want to get rid of
Catnip, just water it daily and it will go away.)
