
Schizonepeta tenuifolia

Annual. Native to China and Japan. Smaller and stronger
smelling than Official Catnip, this pretty, lavender-flowered herb is official
to the Chinese pharmacopoeia. Used as a diaphoretic, increasing circulation
to the subcutaneous areas. It is also a mild hemostatic (used to
stem internal bleeding). Cultivation: Easy. Direct
seed or start in flats in early spring. Thin or transplant to 6 inches
apart. Flowers to 2 feet. Likes full sun and moderate water.
