Potentially TOXIC
Herbaceous perennial. Native to the western United States, especially
the Rocky Mountains. Light blue and diminuitive. Medicinal
uses and contraindications are the same as for Blue Flag, Official . Cultivation:
Seed requires at least one month of cold, moist conditioning before planting
in a warm place. Given this cold stratification, germination is dependable.
May be sown in the fall, midwinter or very early spring in outdoor nursery
beds. Set out plants in moist garden soil, at the edge of water or
in shallow water, 6 inches apart. Flowers to 1 foot tall.
